VALENCIA INTERESTED IN RIERA

Valencia are very much interested in signing Albert Riera from Greece. The La Liga side's sporting director Braulio Vazquez is said to have put the Everton man at the top of his transfer wish list, and with Everton far from certain to be playing European football next season, the director is hoping the carrot of Champions League football may help tempt Arteta.

As well as Arteta, Valencia are also interested in former Liverpool man Albert Riera, whose has caught the eye since his move to Olympiakos.

RIERA GETS RED CARDED

Albert Riera was sent off for Olympiacos in the 1-1 draw with Panionios but they are still at the top of the league. Kevin Mirallas fired the top team into an unsurprising lead over a side loitering just one place above the relegation play-off spot two minutes before half-time.

However, they were pegged back by substitute Vaclav Sverkos in the 68th minute and lost Albert Riera to a straight red card five minutes later. Still they sit ten points clear of nearest challengers Panathinakos at the summit.

RIERA SCORES FOR OLYMPIACOS

Albert Riera was on the scoresheet as he helped Olympiacos record victory in the Turkish league. Braces from both Marko Pantelic and Albert Riera spared Olympiacos FC blushes on Saturday night as Ernesto Valverde's men grinded out a 4-2 defeat of Panserraikos FC at the Giorgos Karaiskakis Stadium. Giorgos Georgiadis also had two for the visitors, including one from the penalty spot.

RIERA IMPRESSES

Albert Riera continued to show his qualities in the Greek league after impressive performances for Olympiacos. The second came courtesy of a fast break as a poor clearance attempt by the Kerkyra defense paved the way for Pantelic to break free on goal, only to shuffle a swift pass to Mirallas who fired home an inch-perfect effort to confirm all three points.

RIERA PRAISES PREMIER LEAGUE

Albert Riera has praised the the Premier league by saying that more and more Spanish players are willing to sacrifice the sunshine by moving to the Premier league. "The clubs are very professional, too. There are some in Spain where you don't get paid on time. Here, that's never an issue. The clubs also help you adapt. I'm learning England and enjoying my career which has taken me to a new country."

RIERA WAKEN DURING BURGALARY

Former Reds striker Riera was awaken in the midst of a burglary heist in his home. According to the reports, confirmed by a club official, the burglary occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning while former Liverpool player Riera, his wife and his brother Sito - who plays for Greek club Panionios - were sleeping.

The thieves took 2,000 euros in cash, 800 pounds sterling, four cell phones, a laptop computer, a number of pieces of jewelry and two expensive cars from the garage.

Albert Riera scored his first goal for Olympiacos helping the side to a 2-0 win. Olympiacos FC grabbed its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Kerkyra FC 2-0 courtesy of goals from Olof Mellberg and Albert Riera. In yet another match behind closed doors, Olympiacos earned psychological boost to open their home-half of the schedule on a winning note.

RIERA SEALS GREEK SWITCH

Albert Riera has completed his transfer from Liverpool to Olympiakos. The Spaniard has inked a four-year contract with Olympiakos, ending his two-year stay at Anfield, for a fee in the region of £5million.

Riera joined the Reds from Espanyol in 2008 for a fee of £8million and went on to make 40 league appearances, scoring three goals.

Last season, Albert Riera fell out-of-favour with then-manager Rafa Benitez, with his last appearance for Liverpool coming in March.

RIERA SET FOR GREEK MOVE

Albert Riera is set to end his Liverpool days and move to Greek side, Olympiakos. The Spaniard’s future with the north west club has been uncertain ever since he fell out with former Reds manager Rafael Benitez. Months of watching matches from the Liverpool Hospitality Packages have left Riera keen to move on.

RIERA: BOARD DIDN'T WANT ME

Albert Riera has criticised the Liverpool board over the way he has been treated at the club and the power manager Rafael Benitez has at Anfield.

The 28-year-old was suspended by Benitez after publicly criticising the Spanish manager and has not played for Liverpool since March.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the winger defiantly declared: "I want to leave.

"English clubs are run differently to Spanish clubs. In England you have a manager at the club and the board of the club has done nothing for me. The club has not fought for me.
