Brazil Waits Anxiously For Neymar Injury Report

In Normal circumstances, the Brazilian people would have celebrated like crazy after that win against Colombia in the Round of 8 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

It was after 12 years that they were in the semi final round. It was a party occasion, but, unfortunately, the Brazilian fans were not overly happy.

Rather than celebrating, they were more concerned to know the reports of Neymar’s fitness.
The golden boy of Brazilian football had suffered nasty injury just minutes prior to the completion of that Colombia match and had broken his back. He was immediately stretchered off the ground and then via air, he was taken to the hospital where the doctors made it clear that the Barcelona striker would not be able to return to action before six weeks.

This is something that might prove to be a killer blow for the host nation. There is no doubt that Neymar is not the only talented player in Brazilian squad. There are others too who are, in fact, more experienced, but, Neymar is someone around whom this team revolves.

Apart from Neymar, Brazil will not get the services of Thiago Silva, the skipper, either in the Round of 4 as the defender was shown yellow card against Colombia.

Thiago had been shown yellow card once earlier in the tournament as well. So, he will have to remain on the sidelines for the next match.

In the last two World Cups, Brazil had suffered defeats in the Round of 8. In 2006, it was the Les Blues, while, 4 years later, it was the Dutch who had thrown them out.
This time around, on their home soil, with players like Neymar approaching his peak, the Brazilians were the hot favourites, but, not quite now.
